Electors or crooks?

Being curious, I looked up the proposed USA legislation about voter registration (see image).

The news says this bill before Congress is a "line in the sand" for their President.

According to the official summary, the bill, if passed and signed into law (by President) will require proof of citizenship in order to register as a voter. (I gather from news that there is more to the legislation.)

The electoral situation in the USA is more complex than I wish to address! Their system focuses on the States. They have no equivalent of the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC).

Various voting methods are used. As with us, results may be challenged.

Australia also enrols to vote adult citizens only. I do not know how that is enforced - the AEC is responsible.

According to news, many assertions of electoral illegality are made in the USA but the assertions are not subjected to strict formal legal judgement. This is sometimes the case here, with allegations of multiple voting.

As previously posted, we certainly have multiple voting by some voters. Probably in every election in every electorate. This is no secret and the fact cannot be hidden or denied. The fact also is that the number of instances is vanishingly small.

There is no absolute way to end error* or even crime. (Local image today with changed circumstances!)

This is comparable to there being no prison which is escape proof.

All of our data is freely available from the electoral authorities.

The data situation in the USA? Last time I looked their Federal reporting system had ground to a halt over lack of funding. (That never happens here.)

*As to errors: they may be made by electors or by officials.
An embarrassing memory from last century is carefully verifying enrolment details on the roll with the elector and issuing the ballot papers - neglecting to mark the roll!
These days I would recommend the official uses the ballot paper as a kind of ruler, finds the roll entry, marks the name, then issues the ballot paper(s).

Yours sincerely
