Power Wielded in the Corridors
Website capture of the Australian Parliament House (unable to locate an official image)
Lots of reports in the news I see of switching of jobs up there. It follows that some pay-packets change (increase or decrease).
There were votes involved - secret or open. But is it actually just about pay? Primarily about personal gain to the MP?
Could it be primarily for the better government of the Commonwealth?
Could it be primarily for the good of the entire populace?
Could it be primarily to advantage one segment of the community?
What does it have to do with me? With you? With any elector, except party members?
Are there party members with big influence from outside the Parliament having a big say? "Formers"?
The sitting MPs make the decision. They alone.
They do their stuff. They meet. They hold (internal) democratic elections. They my do their best, As usual in Australia, when it comes to the crunch, it is all about numbers.

Who judges the motives? The actions? The decisions?
You do? Some of us do.
